Aston Villa linked with Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi in €40m move

Germany-Nigeria forward Karim Adeyemi of Borussia Dortmund has been linked with a summer move to Aston Villa, with reports in Germany rating the probability of a transfer at 34%.

The 24-year-old right winger, who can operate across the front line and prefers his left foot, is understood to be on Villa’s radar as the Premier League club assess wide attacking options ahead of next season. Adeyemi’s current market value is listed at €40.00m, a fee that would place him among Villa’s most expensive signings if any deal were to be agreed.

Adeyemi, born in München on 18 January 2002 and standing at 1.80m, is of dual Germany and Nigeria heritage. He wears the No 27 shirt for Dortmund and has become known for his pace and direct running in the Bundesliga. His contractual situation at the Westfalenstadion has not been made public, and with no formal expiry date disclosed, speculation has included the possibility of Dortmund allowing him to run down his deal towards free-agent status in the medium term if no extension is agreed.

The winger has remained a regular part of Dortmund’s attacking rotation this season, including their recent league fixture against Bundesliga opponents, where he featured on the right flank in a match played in early May 2026. Dortmund earned a positive result on that occasion, with Adeyemi contributing his characteristic vertical runs and pressing from the front, although he did not get on the scoresheet.

Having previously developed his game in Germany before establishing himself at Dortmund, a move to the Premier League would mark the next step in a career built on top-flight experience. If Villa choose to firm up their interest, and Dortmund are prepared to negotiate, a transfer to England could yet reshape Adeyemi’s trajectory at the highest level and test his potential in a new tactical and physical environment.
