Aston Villa has made an initial bid of 15 million Euros plus bonuses for Fiorentina’s 19-year-old right-back Michael Kayode, according to SportItalia journalist Alfredo Pedulla.
However, Fiorentina is reluctant to sell the Italian-born Nigerian defender, who signed a contract extension until 2028 last October and is holding out for offers starting at 20 million Euros plus bonuses.
Kayode has become an important asset for the team, and Fiorentina is hesitant to part ways with him.
Aston Villa, led by sporting director Monchi, is expected to make another attempt to secure Kayode’s services.
The interest in Kayode from Premier League clubs highlights the growing reputation of young Italian defenders in the international market.
With Aston Villa having recently facilitated a significant deal involving Douglas Luiz and Barrenechea, they have freed up resources to pursue new talents like Kayode.
As the transfer window progresses, it remains to be seen whether Aston Villa will meet Fiorentina’s valuation or if other suitors will emerge for the promising full-back.
Born in Italy to Nigerian parents, Kayode is eligible to represent both nations internationally. However, the youngster revealed his dream is to play for the former World champions.
