Aston Villa have signalled their intention to keep Unai Emery as manager beyond 2029 following discussions about the club’s long-term sporting and institutional plans.
Villa confirmed on Wednesday that senior figures had met to establish the direction of the club’s future, with Emery remaining central to their strategy.
The club said the meeting was held to “plan the club’s future and lay the foundations for its long-term sporting and institutional project”.
The discussions were also aimed at “jointly planning the club’s long-term strategic direction”. Villa said they had produced “a clear commitment beyond 2029 for the joint development of the club under the sporting leadership of Unai Emery”.
Emery has overseen a significant transformation since arriving at Villa four years ago. Under the Spaniard, the club have qualified for the Champions League twice and won the Europa League last season, ending a 30-year wait for silverware.
His success at Villa Park has led to interest from other Premier League clubs. Manchester United are among the teams reported to be considering Emery, with uncertainty surrounding the future of Michael Carrick.
