Christian Benteke Set for Comeback Against Manchester City
After a long spell on the sidelines due to an Achilles injury sustained in April, Christian Benteke is finally set to return to action. The Aston Villa striker, who missed the 2014 World Cup with Belgium, has fully recovered and is likely to be included in the squad to face Manchester City this Saturday.
Villa manager Paul Lambert provided the update:
“If everything goes well tomorrow and he feels good, Christian will be in the squad.”
Benteke was deemed not ready for Villa’s 3-0 loss to Chelsea last weekend but has since made significant progress in training. His return would be a major boost for Villa’s attack, which has struggled in recent weeks.
The 23-year-old’s comeback could provide the physical presence and goal-scoring threat the Villains have been missing during his absence.
