Assane Diao, the talented 19-year-old forward for Real Betis, appears poised to leave the Andalusian club during the current winter transfer window, with Italy’s Serie A likely to be his next destination.

Diao, who holds dual Senegalese and Spanish nationality, has attracted interest from numerous clubs since his breakthrough at Betis last season.

Despite previous approaches, including one from Portuguese giants FC Porto, the young striker has not accepted any offers until now.

However, financial pressures at Real Betis, which aim to bolster their coffers through player sales, have positioned Diao as a prime candidate for departure this season.

Serie A side Como, currently 15th in the league standings, has emerged as the front-runner in securing Diao’s signature.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between Como and Real Betis have progressed significantly.

The Italian club, managed by former Spanish international Cesc Fàbregas, is reportedly close to finalizing a deal valued at approximately €12 million.

Since making his debut with the Real Betis first team, Diao has featured in 47 matches, scoring six goals and assisting three more.

Despite these modest statistics, his potential and versatility on the field have made him a sought-after player for clubs looking to strengthen their attacking options.

Como’s interest underscores the club’s ambition to rise from their current position and make an impact in the competitive Serie A landscape.

This move would mark a significant milestone in Diao’s young career, providing an opportunity to showcase his skills on a new stage and gain valuable experience in one of Europe’s top football leagues.

Meanwhile, for Real Betis, the sale represents a strategic decision to balance their financial objectives while bidding farewell to a promising talent who has been a part of their squad.

With the deal nearing completion, Assane Diao’s anticipated transfer to Como could be confirmed in the coming days.

Fans of both clubs will be watching closely as the final details are ironed out, eager to see how this move impacts both Diao’s career trajectory and Como’s fortunes in Serie A.
