German-Burkinabé midfielder Assan Ouédraogo responds to Liverpool interest
German-Burkinabé midfielder Assan Ouédraogo has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool FC and insisted that his focus remains firmly on RB Leipzig.
The 20-year-old midfielder, regarded as one of the brightest talents of his generation, has attracted growing attention following a series of impressive performances in Germany.
According to reports from Bild, Liverpool have included Ouédraogo on their shortlist of transfer targets and are reportedly prepared to offer RB Leipzig around €40 million for the player.
However, the Bundesliga club are said to have no intention of selling the midfielder during the summer transfer window.
Reports also suggest Leipzig consider the proposed figure insufficient, particularly because the player does not have a release clause in his contract.
Despite increasing transfer speculation, Ouédraogo played down the rumours when asked about Liverpool’s reported interest and his plans for the future.
“No! I think these kinds of rumors always circulate from time to time; that’s just how it is in football. It goes in one ear and out the other. Otherwise, we’d all go crazy believing everything that’s written about us. I’m in Leipzig right now, and nothing else really interests me,” he told Bild.
The midfielder also made it clear that he intends to continue his development with the German club rather than consider a move elsewhere.
“My focus is entirely on RB. I absolutely want to take the next steps in my development here next year.”
Ouédraogo remains under contract with RB Leipzig until June 2029, placing the Bundesliga side in a strong position amid interest from clubs across Europe.
The German-Burkinabé player has continued to enhance his reputation this season with a number of influential performances in midfield. He has featured in 18 Bundesliga matches, scoring three goals and registering three assists.
His technical quality, composure on the ball and maturity at a young age have made him one of the emerging talents attracting close attention from major European clubs.
While Liverpool’s reported interest reflects his rising profile in European football, Ouédraogo’s latest comments suggest he currently sees his immediate future at Leipzig as he continues his development at one of Germany’s leading clubs.
