Assan Ouedraogo close to RB Leipzig return after injury

Assan Ouedraogo could be available for RB Leipzig’s away match at Werder Bremen this Saturday after a four-week absence due to a shoulder injury.

The midfielder has returned to full team training over the past two days, raising hopes of his inclusion in the squad for the Bundesliga fixture.

Leipzig head coach Martin Demichelis expressed his eagerness to have Ouedraogo back in contention. “From my side, I would like to have him involved immediately,” Demichelis said during Thursday’s press conference. However, he stressed that the final decision depends on how Ouedraogo feels and how his shoulder responds to increasing physical demands, especially in duels.

A call on his squad status will be made closer to matchday. “We still have 48 hours until the game. Tomorrow is an important day to see who is ready and who is not,” Demichelis added.

Ouedraogo’s potential return comes at a crucial time for Leipzig, who are dealing with midfield absences. Rocco Reitz is ruled out, while Brajan Gruda remains doubtful after ankle problems and a rib bruise. Having Ouédraogo back would provide valuable depth and competition in the centre of the park.
