Ashraf Sobhi, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, has made a bold move to boost the country’s football scene by approving major requests from several leading clubs, including giants Al Ahly and Zamalek.
In an official statement released on Thursday, Sobhi gave the green light to Al Ahly’s request for a credit facility in both local and foreign currencies, an important step in strengthening the club’s financial footing.
Zamalek also received the minister’s approval to establish two new companies focused on e-marketing and organizing events. The club’s request for credit facilities was also accepted, giving them room to grow commercially.
In addition, both Al Ahly and Zamalek were granted approval to receive donations and goodwill loans from fans and members, a move that could generate strong grassroots backing.
Beyond Cairo, Sobhi conducted an inspection visit to the Al-Masry Stadium project and met with the Ismailia Governor to review updates on the Dervishes.
The Minister also supported Alexandria Union’s request for a new club branch, reinforcing the government’s commitment to backing Egypt’s most beloved football clubs.
