Ashraf Dari to remain at Al Ahly after rejecting move away

Moroccan defender Ashraf Dari is set to remain with Al Ahly for the 2026/27 season after the player and his father rejected the possibility of a move during the current summer transfer window.

A source within the Egyptian giants revealed that Dari has been registered in Al Ahly’s squad for the new season after the club initially removed his name from the list.

According to the source, the Cairo-based club will begin the process of re-registering the 27-year-old defender after informing him that he remains part of the team’s plans.

Dari’s father, Zouhair Dari, confirmed the development in an exclusive statement, saying Al Ahly had officially informed his son that he would continue with the club for the new campaign.

However, he added that the Morocco international would not join Al Ahly’s pre-season training camp in Spain and would instead remain away from the squad until he returns to Egypt.

“Ashraf Dari will not join the team at the Spain camp,” his father said. “He will not join them, and Al Ahly will wait until he returns to Egypt.”

The development ends uncertainty surrounding Dari’s immediate future, with the defender previously linked with a departure from the Egyptian champions during the transfer window.

Dari joined Al Ahly in the summer of 2024 from French club Stade Brestois, but his time in Cairo has been disrupted by injuries and competition for places in the defence.

The 27-year-old has made 26 appearances for Al Ahly since his arrival, but has yet to register a goal or an assist.

With the club now set to retain him for the new season, Dari will have the opportunity to fight for a place in the first team and establish himself as an important member of the Al Ahly defence.
