Ashraf Bencharki reaches 10th Al Ahly goal against ZED

Ashraf Bencharki scored his 10th goal for Al Ahly in all competitions when he put his side ahead against ZED in the Egyptian Premier League.

ZED hosted Al Ahly at Cairo Stadium in the final match of the second round of the league season, with the Moroccan forward opening the scoring in the 21st minute.

Bencharki finished a move by sending a low shot to the left of goalkeeper Ali Lotfi after receiving a pass from Marwan Attia. The goal increased his Al Ahly total to 10 in 55 appearances for the club, while he has also provided 13 assists.

ZED became the seventh opponent against whom Bencharki has scored since joining Al Ahly. His goals for the club have come in two competitions: nine in the Egyptian Premier League and one in the Egyptian Super Cup.

Zamalek remain the team against whom Bencharki has scored most often. He has found the net four times against them, with three of those goals coming in the league and one in the Egyptian Super Cup.

The other teams on his scoring list are Haras El Hodoud, Cleopatra, Al Ittihad, ENPPI, El Kahraba and now ZED.

The goal against ZED also marked Bencharki’s first of the season. He had already been named player of the match against El Sharqia ENPPI in the opening round.

Bencharki’s latest strike came as Al Ahly continued their second-round campaign at Cairo Stadium. His landmark goal added another opponent to a growing list and took his overall contribution for the club to 23 goals and assists in 55 matches.

The Moroccan’s scoring record has been built primarily in the Egyptian Premier League, where nine of his 10 Al Ahly goals have been scored. His only other goal came in the Egyptian Super Cup, while his 13 assists have further contributed to his impact since his arrival.

Against ZED, his decisive moment came early in the contest. Marwan Attia’s pass gave him the opportunity to shoot, and Bencharki kept his effort low enough to beat Ali Lotfi and give Al Ahly the advantage.

The strike also continued a sequence that began with his appearance in the opening round, when he received the player-of-the-match award against El Sharqia ENPPI. He now has goals against seven different opponents in Al Ahly colours, with Zamalek at the top of that list on four.

With the match against ZED completing the second round of the Egyptian Premier League, Bencharki’s goal brought his club tally to double figures and established his first scoring contribution of the current season.
