The fifth edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League kicked off with a balanced draw, placing Morocco’s ASFAR Women’s team in a competitive group with Masr, Egypt’s club; 15 de Agosto from Equatorial Guinea; and USFAS from Mali.

The teams will battle for a spot in the knockout rounds starting November 8 in Egypt.

ASFAR Women will begin their campaign against Masr in Ismailia, a highly anticipated North African derby marking the group’s opening at Suez Canal Stadium. Army, champions in 2022, face Masr, who finished third last year, promising a tough contest for both sides.

The tournament features eight teams, with two making their debut: 15 de Agosto and USFAS. Congolese side TP Mazembe defends its title in another group including ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast, Gaborone United, and JKT Queens. Matches are slated for Suez Canal and Cairo’s Right to Dream Stadiums.

The finals reward winners with $600,000 and runners-up with $400,000. ASFAR Women aim to reclaim continental glory and bring pride to Moroccan football, carrying hopes for another championship run.
