Ghanaian football giants, Asante Kotoko have announced their withdrawal from all football activities following the death of staunch supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong—popularly known as Nana Pooley
The staunch supporter who also doubles as a Communications Member of the Supporters’ Group was stabbed to death by unknown assailants during their Matchday 19 fixture at the Nana Kronmansah Park at Twumasikrom.
In a statement released on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the club stated that all first-team activities have been put on hold and will only resume after justice is served.
As part of the measures to ensure justice is served, the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has suspended the Matchday 20 games.
The Nana Kronmansah Park has been banned indefinitely with four Asante Kotoko players and six Nsoatreman FC players also being charged by the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA.
Additionally, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, who is the owner and bankroller of Nsoatreman FC together with two people have been arrested by the Bono Regional Police.
