AS Roma turn down €25m Al-Nassr bid for Ivorian defender Evan Ndicka
AS Roma have rejected a €25 million bid from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr for central defender Evan Ndicka, as interest in the Ivorian international intensifies during the closing stages of the summer transfer window.
Ndicka, a vital figure in Roma’s defensive structure, has been attracting widespread attention across Europe and beyond.
While speculation over his potential exit from the Stadio Olimpico has been circulating for several weeks, the Italian club appears firm in its stance—at least for now.
Al-Nassr, one of the Saudi Pro League’s most ambitious sides, reportedly submitted a formal offer of €25 million in an effort to lure the 24-year-old away from Serie A.
However, Roma swiftly declined the proposal, viewing the sum as insufficient for a player of Ndicka’s calibre and importance.
The Ivorian centre-back remains a central component in Roma’s tactical setup, having earned his place as a first-choice starter since his arrival.
Club officials are said to value the player significantly higher than the current offer, with reports indicating that Roma would only entertain bids starting at €40 million.
Ndicka, who signed a five-year deal with the Giallorossi, is contracted until June 2028. His current market value is estimated at €30 million, according to Transfermarkt, but Roma’s valuation reflects both his on-pitch contribution and long-term importance to the club’s sporting project.
Interest in the former Eintracht Frankfurt defender is not limited to the Middle East. A number of European clubs have been monitoring his situation closely, including Arsenal, Newcastle United, Manchester United, Galatasaray, and Olympique de Marseille.
While no formal offers have been submitted by these sides, the growing list of suitors underlines the defender’s reputation across top-level football.
Al-Nassr’s approach signals a broader trend of Saudi clubs aggressively pursuing high-profile players from European leagues. Despite the financial muscle behind such pursuits, Roma’s refusal to part with Ndicka for €25 million highlights their determination to retain key assets, especially with the new season already underway.
The Saudi club could yet return with an improved bid before the window closes. Whether Roma would reconsider their position in the face of a significantly higher offer remains to be seen.
Much may also depend on the player’s personal stance, which has so far remained private. As of now, there is no indication that Ndicka is pushing for a departure.
With less than a month left in the transfer window, the situation remains fluid. While Roma have made their position clear for now, further developments cannot be ruled out—particularly if Al-Nassr or another interested party returns with an offer that matches the Italian club’s valuation.
As it stands, Evan Ndicka remains a Roma player, firmly embedded in the club’s plans and under contract until 2028.
Whether he stays that way by the end of the transfer window will depend on the willingness of clubs to meet Roma’s demands—and on whether the player himself is open to a move.
