Roma Forward Gervinho Linked with Lucrative Move to UAE
Gervinho could be on his way out of AS Roma, with reports suggesting the Ivorian international is being courted by Al Jazira of the United Arab Emirates.
According to France Football, the Emirati club has submitted an offer in the region of €10 million to €15 million to secure the 28-year-old’s services. The move comes after a mixed season at Roma, where Gervinho struggled to consistently recapture his best form.
Despite having two years remaining on his current deal, Africa Top Sports reported earlier this week that Roma would not stand in the striker’s way should he choose to leave. The Italian club appears open to offloading the former Lille and Arsenal forward.
What’s more, Al Jazira is reportedly prepared to triple Gervinho’s annual salary, currently estimated at €2.7 million, making the move not just a sporting decision but a highly lucrative one.
Gervinho joined Roma in 2013 under then-manager Rudi Garcia, who previously coached him at Lille. He made an immediate impact in his first season but has struggled for consistency in the years since. A transfer to the UAE could mark a significant shift in the forward’s career trajectory, swapping European competition for a new challenge in the Middle East.
Roma, meanwhile, could reinvest the funds as they look to reshape their squad for the upcoming campaign.
