AS Monaco have reportedly set their sights on Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumaré, aiming to bolster their squad following Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League.
The 25-year-old French-Senegalese player, who joined Leicester from Lille in 2021, has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, including Monaco.
Soumaré’s tenure at Leicester has been marked by limited playing time, leading to speculation about his future at the club. Reports suggest that Monaco view Soumaré as a suitable addition to their midfield, aiming to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
Monaco’s manager, Adi Hütter, is reportedly keen on acquiring a midfielder with experience in both Ligue 1 and the Premier League, making Soumaré an appealing candidate.
Leicester City are reportedly seeking a transfer fee of at least €20 million for Soumaré. Monaco’s initial offer of €12 million, potentially rising to €15 million with bonuses, was rejected by Leicester.
Despite this, negotiations are ongoing, with Monaco continuing to pursue the midfielder.
Soumaré’s potential move to Monaco would mark a return to France, where he began his professional career.
His experience in Ligue 1, combined with his time in the Premier League, positions him as a valuable asset for Monaco as they look to strengthen their midfield options for the upcoming season.
As the transfer window progresses, all eyes will be on the negotiations between Leicester City and AS Monaco regarding Boubakary Soumaré’s potential move. Should the transfer go through, it would signify a significant shift for both clubs as they navigate the post-relegation landscape.
