CAF WCL: AS Féminine Sousse thrashed 9-0 by FC Masar

FC Masar make commanding start while FUS Rabat also claim victory in UNAF qualifying tournament

AS Féminine Sousse suffered a 9-0 defeat against FC Masar as the UNAF zone qualifying tournament for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League began with two one-sided matches on Tuesday.

The Tunisian side were unable to find a response against their Egyptian opponents at the Chedly Zouiten Stadium, with FC Masar producing a dominant performance to take all three points.

The result immediately placed FC Masar at the top of the qualifying standings on goal difference.

In the other match played on the opening day, Morocco’s FUS Rabat defeated Algeria’s Akbou FC 4-0 at the Hedi Naifer Stadium.

That victory also gave FUS Rabat three points, leaving the Moroccan side level with FC Masar at the top of the table.

FC Masar dominate AS Féminine Sousse

FC Masar delivered the biggest result of the opening day by defeating AS Féminine Sousse 9-0.

The Egyptian side controlled the match at the Chedly Zouiten Stadium and completed a nine-goal victory over their Tunisian opponents.

For AS Féminine Sousse, the result leaves them without a point after the first round of matches and at the bottom of the standings.

The scale of the defeat also means they begin the tournament with a significant goal difference to overcome in the remaining matches.

FC Masar, meanwhile, took maximum points from their opening fixture and immediately established themselves as one of the leading sides in the UNAF qualifying tournament.

FUS Rabat beat Akbou FC

FUS Rabat also began their campaign with a convincing victory, defeating Akbou FC 4-0 at the Hedi Naifer Stadium.

The Moroccan side secured three points from their opening match and matched FC Masar’s points total.

The four-goal margin means FUS Rabat sit second in the standings after the opening round, behind FC Masar.

Akbou FC were unable to score and now occupy third place with no points.

The Algerian club will therefore need to respond in their next matches after beginning the qualifying tournament with a heavy defeat.

The opening day’s results have created a clear split in the standings.

FC Masar lead the table with three points, while FUS Rabat are also on three points after their respective victories.

The two sides are followed by Akbou FC and AS Féminine Sousse, both of whom have no points.

FC Masar’s nine-goal victory gives them the strongest start to the tournament, while FUS Rabat’s four-goal win puts them immediately behind the Egyptian side.

AS Féminine Sousse and Akbou FC will now look to recover after losing their opening fixtures.

The first day’s results have therefore given FC Masar and FUS Rabat an early advantage, while the Tunisian and Algerian representatives face the task of responding in their next matches.
