AS FAR suffer injury blow ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns clash
AS FAR have been dealt a major setback ahead of their CAF Champions League final clash against Mamelodi Sundowns FC after Senegalese defender Fallou Mendy was ruled out through injury.
The Moroccan giants resumed training on Tuesday as preparations intensified for the first leg of the continental final scheduled for next Sunday in Pretoria.
However, the club confirmed that Mendy will miss the important encounter after medical examinations revealed a muscle tear in his left thigh.
Royal Army set for South Africa trip
The AS FAR delegation is expected to travel to Johannesburg on Thursday aboard a private plane before making the trip to Pretoria for the first leg against the South African champions.
The return leg of the final is set to take place in Rabat the following week.
Moroccan side targeting historic continental success
AS FAR will be hoping to secure a positive result away from home to improve their chances of lifting the CAF Champions League trophy for only the second time in the club’s history.
The Moroccan side last won Africa’s premier club competition in 1985 and are now aiming to end a long wait for another continental crown.
