Moroccan giants AS FAR have officially announced the transfer of Hatem Al-Sawabi to Belgian club Genk.

In a brief statement, the club wished Al-Sawabi success in his new professional chapter but remained tight-lipped about the financial terms of the deal.

Al-Sawabi’s departure follows closely on the heels of Akram El-Nakash’s move to UAE side Khorfakkan, underscoring AS FAR’s recent trend of allowing local talents to pursue opportunities abroad.

In response to the outgoings, the club has reinforced its squad with eight new signings, headlined by Moroccan international goalkeeper Reda Tagnaouti, experienced defender Younes Abdel Hamid from France, and Hamza Haba, who arrives from the Kuwaiti league.

These acquisitions signal AS FAR’s determination to mount a serious challenge in the CAF Champions League next season, as the club aims to reclaim its status on the African stage after a period of mixed performances.

Club officials have emphasised that the current transfer strategy is focused on strengthening all departments of the team, ensuring balance, and building a squad capable of securing both domestic and continental glory.
