AS FAR target Raja Casablanca defender Abdellah Khafifi

Moroccan giants AS FAR have entered the race to sign defender Abdellah Khafifi after negotiations over a new contract with Raja Casablanca reportedly stalled.

The Royal Army club are hoping to capitalise on the uncertainty surrounding the 32-year-old’s future as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Contract talks reach impasse

According to Africafoot, Raja Casablanca have yet to reach an agreement with Khafifi over a contract extension, opening the door for rival clubs to make their move.

AS FAR are said to have accelerated their interest and are working to convince the experienced defender to join their project before the summer transfer window closes.

Khafifi is currently a free agent following the expiry of his contract with Raja, making him an attractive option for clubs seeking proven domestic experience.

Key figure in Raja’s defence

Khafifi joined Raja Casablanca in the summer of 2023 after a spell with Qatari side Umm Salal and quickly established himself as one of the club’s first-choice defenders.

During the 2025-26 campaign, he made 27 appearances in all competitions, including 26 league matches.

Despite playing in defence, Khafifi contributed six goals and one assist, highlighting his ability to influence matches at both ends of the pitch.

Experience attracts interest

Before moving to Qatar, Khafifi built his reputation with Mouloudia Oujda, and his experience in both Moroccan and international football has made him one of the most sought-after free agents in the domestic market.

AS FAR are now hoping to complete the signing before rival clubs enter the race, although Khafifi’s future remains unresolved as discussions continue over his next destination.

The coming days are expected to be decisive as the defender weighs his options ahead of the new Botola Pro season.
