AS FAR Rabat demonstrated their dominance in the CAF Champions League with a commanding 2-0 victory over Maniema Union, consolidating their position at the top of Group B.

The Moroccan side now sits with 8 points, while the Congolese team remains at the bottom of the group with just 3 points.

The match saw AS FAR assert their control early, with the opening goal coming in the 11th minute. Ait Ouarkhane fired an unstoppable strike, giving his side an early advantage.

Just before the halftime whistle, Zouhzouh extended AS FAR’s lead, curling in a perfectly executed free kick in the second minute of added time (45’+2), leaving Maniema Union with a significant deficit to overcome.

Despite trailing by two goals, Maniema Union attempted to fight back, but their efforts were thwarted by a resolute AS FAR defense.

Papy Kimoto’s side came closest to pulling a goal back in the 83rd minute when Kitambala had a clear chance, but the Moroccan defense stood firm, denying any hopes of a late comeback.

Overall, Maniema Union struggled to create meaningful attacking opportunities, lacking the offensive sharpness needed to break down AS FAR’s well-organized backline.

The Congolese team had managed three draws in their previous matches but were unable to find the form required to challenge the Moroccan giants.

For AS FAR, the victory is a significant step towards qualification for the knockout stages of the competition.

Their performance showed confidence and cohesion, strengthening their claim as a formidable force in the tournament.

In contrast, this defeat leaves Maniema Union with much to do in their remaining fixtures if they are to keep their qualification hopes alive.

After a promising start with three draws, the loss has put their progress in jeopardy, and they will need to regroup quickly to avoid further setbacks in the group stage.

With AS FAR continuing their impressive form, they now look poised to advance to the next phase, while Maniema Union faces a tough challenge to salvage their campaign.
