AS FAR open talks with Pedro Gonçalves over vacant head coach role

Moroccan giants AS FAR have opened discussions with Portuguese coach Pedro Gonçalves as they continue their search for a new head coach following the departure of Alexandre Santos.

The Rabat-based club are exploring the possibility of appointing Gonçalves, who has gained significant experience across African football through his previous roles with the Angola national team and Tanzanian giants Young Africans (Yanga).

Gonçalves has built a strong reputation on the continent, particularly during his time in charge of Angola, where he guided the Palancas Negras through a period of rebuilding and competitive progress.

His tactical approach and familiarity with African football have made him an attractive option for several clubs seeking experienced leadership.

AS FAR are looking to begin a new chapter after Santos left his position at the end of the season. The club are expected to move quickly in securing a replacement as they prepare for upcoming domestic and continental challenges.

The potential appointment of Gonçalves would represent a major move for the Moroccan side, who have ambitions of strengthening their squad and competing for honours both in Morocco and in African competitions.

Negotiations are ongoing, with AS FAR yet to reach a final agreement with the Portuguese tactician. Further discussions are expected as the club assesses the best candidate to lead the team into the new campaign.
