Supporters of Morocco’s AS FAR have demanded disciplinary action against Al Ahly forward Taher Mohamed Taher after ugly scenes in the CAF Champions League clash between the two clubs in Cairo last Sunday.

The “Jumhour Al Aassima” supporters’ association issued an official statement expressing concern that the incidents could be downplayed or overlooked.

The match, which closed out the group stage at Cairo International Stadium, saw Al Ahly fans throw water bottles at AS FAR players in reaction to tensions that had built up since the first leg in Morocco.

In their statement on Facebook, the group insisted Taher Mohamed Taher should be suspended, accusing him of encouraging Al Ahly fans to hurl bottles at the visiting players and describing this as dangerous and unsporting behaviour.

They also called for a full investigation and strict sanctions against Al Ahly, pointing out that AS FAR player Hamoudan was hit and injured during the barrage of bottles.

The group urged officials to carefully review the match delegate’s report and to challenge any inaccuracies, stressing the importance of compiling a complete case supported by video evidence that could, if needed, be submitted to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
