Marseille Target Arthur Masuaku as First Signing of Bielsa Era
Olympique de Marseille are reportedly making moves to secure their first signing under new manager Marcelo Bielsa, with young left-back Arthur Masuaku emerging as a key transfer target.
According to L’Équipe, Marseille have placed the 20-year-old Valenciennes defender high on their list of priorities as they prepare for the upcoming season. In an effort to accelerate negotiations, the Ligue 1 side have tabled an initial offer of €600,000 to buy out the remaining two years of Masuaku’s contract.
Valenciennes, however, are said to be holding out for double that amount. Despite the financial gap, the northern club’s well-documented economic struggles may ultimately force them to reconsider their stance and accept Marseille’s proposal.
Masuaku, who has impressed with his performances despite Valenciennes’ challenges on the pitch, is viewed as a promising addition to Bielsa’s system. Known for his pace and attacking instincts from deep, he could play a vital role in reshaping the squad to suit the Argentine coach’s dynamic style of play.
The move would mark the beginning of what is expected to be an active summer transfer window for Marseille, as Bielsa looks to rebuild and reinforce the team following his appointment.
With negotiations ongoing, Marseille remain optimistic that a deal for Masuaku can be reached in the coming days.
