Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that midfield duo Jorginho and Thomas Partey could depart the club when their contracts expire at the end of the season.

The players are now eligible to negotiate pre-agreements with foreign clubs, raising questions about their future at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking about the situation, Arteta expressed his satisfaction with the contributions of both players but acknowledged the realities of contract clauses and the potential for departures.

“I am very, very happy to have them in the squad,” Arteta said. “They are crucial to what we’re doing, but we also have to consider the contractual circumstances and the wishes of everyone involved.”

The Arsenal boss emphasized the importance of maintaining transparent communication with Jorginho and Partey during this period of uncertainty.

“It’s a process of understanding their intentions and aligning those with the club’s objectives,” Arteta explained.

Both players have been instrumental in Arsenal’s campaign this season, providing experience and stability in midfield.

However, their potential exit would leave gaps in the squad, prompting questions about the club’s plans to address such changes.

On the subject of the January transfer window, Arteta indicated that while the primary focus remains on maximizing the potential of the current roster, the club is prepared to explore new opportunities.

“We are concentrating on what we have,” he said. “But if the right opportunity comes along, one that improves the team and makes sense financially, we will consider it.”

Arteta acknowledged the challenges of making significant moves in the mid-season market, describing it as “complicated” due to limited availability of quality players and inflated prices.

“The January window is always tricky, but we’ll stay vigilant for any chances to strengthen the squad,” he added.

As Arsenal push to solidify their position in the league and pursue their broader ambitions, the uncertainty surrounding Jorginho and Partey highlights the complexities of squad management in modern football.

Arteta’s measured approach to the situation underscores his commitment to balancing short-term success with long-term strategy.

With months remaining in the season, Arsenal supporters will be watching closely to see how the club navigates these pivotal decisions, both on the pitch and in the transfer market.
