Arsene Wenger leads African coaches’ World Cup discussion – Live Stream
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is broadcasting a special performance-focused discussion live on CAF TV on Friday, October 9, as part of its Strategy Conference in Santa Maria, Sal Island, Cabo Verde.
FIFA Chief of Global Football Development Arsène Wenger will join leading African coaches to analyse the continent’s performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and explore ways to strengthen African football ahead of the 2030 tournament.
Coaches assess Africa’s World Cup performance
The panel features coaches including Cabo Verde’s Bubista, Egypt’s Hossam Hassan and DR Congo’s Sébastien Desabre, alongside other technical leaders.
The discussion will examine Africa’s record participation at the 2026 World Cup, where 10 African nations competed and nine advanced to the knockout stage.
The coaches are expected to share their experiences of tournament preparation, tactical approaches, squad management and the challenges of competing against the world’s strongest national teams.
The session will also consider how lessons from the tournament can be applied across CAF’s 54 member associations to improve coaching standards, player development and national-team competitiveness.
Building towards the 2030 World Cup
The live discussion forms part of CAF’s broader strategy to build on Africa’s growing presence in international football and establish stronger foundations for future success.
By bringing together experienced coaches and international technical experts, CAF aims to identify practical measures that can help African teams become more competitive at the 2030 World Cup.
The performance panel is scheduled to begin at 10:00 GMT (10:00 Ghana time) on Friday, October 9, with coverage available through CAF TV.
CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe is also scheduled to hold a separate press conference later in the day as the three-day Strategy Conference concludes.
