ARSÈNE WENGER AND RACISM IN FOOTBALL: “I’M SURPRISED! »

arsene wenger

Famous coach Arsène Wenger recently addressed the issue of racism in football during a press conference. He expressed surprise at the resurgence of racism in football and highlighted the sport as a positive example in the fight against discrimination.

Wenger stated, “I’m surprised this has become such a big issue because sport is a great example of fighting racism. Suddenly there seems to be a problem in our sport, which I don’t believe. Sport has the great advantage that we can measure people’s performances. If you’re good, you play. This is why I think society should follow the example of sport. We never leave a player out for racial reasons. We just look at the quality.”

He further emphasized that he does not believe there is a specific problem in England but acknowledged that if certain black players feel discriminated against, they need to speak out. Wenger expressed his stance against discrimination and advocated for promoting access to coaching positions based on merit, without the need for quotas.

Wenger added, “We have to fight for competence, put people who are good, whether they are black, white or red, it doesn’t matter.” He argued that setting quotas would be counterproductive and contrary to the principles of competition and skill in sports.
