Arsenal weigh ambitious Victor Osimhen move as Galatasaray stand firm
Arsenal are seriously considering a move for Victor Osimhen as they look to add a high-profile striker after several failed attempts in the transfer market.
The Nigeria international has now appeared to leave open the possibility of a move to the Premier League after scoring twice for Galatasaray on the opening day of the Turkish league season.
Asked about the transfer speculation by Metro, the 27-year-old said he remained focused on his work while taking time to consider the opportunities that may arise. His comments have increased interest in a possible move to Arsenal, although any deal would face significant resistance from Galatasaray.
Osimhen’s name was reportedly discussed when Galatasaray officials made enquiries about Arsenal forwards Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri. The Turkish club’s interest in those players has created the possibility of a wider discussion between the two teams, but Arsenal are expected to find negotiations over Osimhen particularly difficult.
According to revelations by 343 Digital, Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has categorically opposed any negotiations involving the striker. Ozbek is said to have made clear within the club that he would not accept an agreement that put Galatasaray at a disadvantage.
The president has also reportedly insisted that Osimhen will not be sold, regardless of the size of any offer from interested clubs. That stance has already been tested in recent weeks, with Galatasaray rejecting what was described as an impressive bid from Al Hilal.
The Saudi Arabian club have been pursuing the Super Eagle for some time, with Africafoot previously reporting the details of that interest exclusively. Despite Al Hilal’s approach, Galatasaray did not hesitate before turning down the proposal.
Osimhen is under contract with Galatasaray until the summer of 2029 and is valued at 75 million euros. The striker earns 18,750,000 euros per year in Turkey, equivalent to 12,187,500,000 FCFA.
Arsenal’s interest comes as the club continue to search for a major attacking addition. Osimhen’s goalscoring record and his apparent willingness to consider the Premier League make him an attractive option, but Galatasaray’s position means Arsenal would need to make a substantial proposal to have any chance of changing the Turkish club’s stance.
For now, Osimhen remains with Galatasaray and is preparing for the club’s second league match of the season against Erzurumspor. The fixture is scheduled to take place shortly.
The betting company 1xbet lists Galatasaray as strong favourites for the match, offering odds of 1.14 for a home win. A draw is priced at 7.50, while Erzurumspor are listed at 14.00. The source article also includes a prompt allowing readers to download 1xbet.
