Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta holds talks with Rafael Leão as winger remains on transfer radar
Arsenal are maintaining interest in AC Milan star Rafael Leão, with sporting director Andrea Berta reportedly speaking with the winger as the Gunners continue to weigh up attacking options this summer.
Leão, who has Angolan heritage, has been a standout performer in Serie A and is once again attracting suitors across Europe.
His powerful runs, technical ability and goal contributions have made him one of the most sought-after forwards.
Last season, he registered 13 goals and 12 assists in 59 appearances across all competitions.
Reports suggest Berta held a phone conversation with Leão roughly 10 days ago, as Arsenal assess the feasibility of a move.
Though the Portuguese international is not currently the club’s top target, he remains firmly on their shortlist as they explore ways to bolster Mikel Arteta’s frontline.
Liverpool are also reported to have initiated contact with Leão’s representatives, with the player viewed as a possible successor to outgoing attackers.
AC Milan, however, are expected to demand a transfer fee in the region of €80 million, with the 25-year-old under contract until 2028.
The coming weeks could be pivotal in determining Leão’s future, with multiple Premier League clubs monitoring developments closely.
Arsenal’s interest remains real, though any deal will depend on budget flexibility and the outcome of parallel negotiations.
