Arsenal remain fully behind Ethan Nwaneri despite his difficult loan spell at Marseille, with the club eager to welcome him back to North London this summer.

Fabrizio Romano has made it clear the teenager’s struggles in Ligue 1 have not shaken the Gunners’ belief in his long-term potential.

“At the moment, I can guarantee that Arsenal maintain full confidence in the player,” Romano said on his YouTube channel. “So Arsenal are waiting for him to complete this season at Marseille for these final 10/11 games and then come back to the club.” Arsenal view his limited minutes and the turbulence around Marseille as part of a young player’s learning curve rather than a setback that defines his future.

This summer, Arsenal plan to sit down with Nwaneri to decide the next step, whether integrating him into Mikel Arteta’s squad or arranging another loan to secure regular senior football.

Nwaneri, who became the Premier League’s youngest-ever debutant in 2022 and produced 9 goals and 2 assists in 37 games last season, remains central to the club’s long-term plans. Romano added, “They trust the player. They trust his potential, and so nothing has changed in terms of long-term plans.”
