Ghanaian football administrator who spotted Thomas Partey, Wilfred Osei Kwaku, has spoken about the Arsenal midfielder, reflecting on the Ghanaian’s influence at the English club.
Kwaku, who discovered Partey as a teenager in Ghana, shared insights into the player’s value to Mikel Arteta’s side amid growing uncertainty over the midfielder’s future.
Partey was notably absent from Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, a loss that many observers felt underscored his importance.
The 31-year-old has recently returned to form and has been instrumental in stabilising Arsenal’s midfield, often working in tandem with Declan Rice.
His presence was sorely missed in the PSG fixture, especially in defensive transitions.
Speaking to The Sun, Palmer highlighted the unique qualities Partey brings to the squad.
“He does things nobody else does. If you look at the goal Arsenal conceded against PSG that’s normally where he dominates,” he noted.
“His importance is quite clear, he does things in that team that nobody else does.”
With Partey’s contract set to expire and little progress in extension talks, speculation over a summer exit has intensified.
Palmer believes the midfielder still has much to offer and urged Arsenal to retain his services.
“This is probably his best season since he went there, and if there’s a chance for him to stay, then that should be his home,” he said.
He added, “The fans love him, and I know he could make more money elsewhere, but I know him and he’s got it in him to play at the highest level for the next five years.
“So why not do that at one of the best clubs in the world?”
Palmer’s comments come as Partey enters a critical phase in his Arsenal career, with the club weighing up their midfield options ahead of next season.
