Double good news for Arsenal fans emerged this Monday. The London club officially announced a change in their kit supplier, confirming speculation that had circulated since May 2013. After more than 20 years with Nike, the Gunners will don Puma jerseys starting from July 2014, as announced by both parties.
The German company secured a groundbreaking deal with Arsenal, worth £30 million (approximately €37 million) per year. This contract stands as the largest in English football, surpassing the £30 million deal between Liverpool and Warrior.
In addition to the kit supplier change, another positive development surfaced: the extension of the contract of the club’s esteemed manager, Arsène Wenger. Ivan Gazidis, the club’s owner, disclosed this news on the sidelines of the Puma contract signing. “Wenger will extend his stay with us. However, we will unveil the details at the appropriate time,” Gazidis affirmed.
