Injury Woes Continue for Arsenal’s Abou Diaby Ahead of Community Shield
Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby faces another setback in his ongoing battle with injuries. After returning from a year-long absence, the 28-year-old suffered back pain during the Gunners’ second pre-season friendly against the New York Red Bulls on July 26, forcing him to take a cautious approach to his recovery.
Medical examinations have since revealed an inflamed tendon in Diaby’s left hip, ruling him out of Arsenal’s upcoming Community Shield clash against Manchester City on Sunday. Despite the latest injury, the French international remains optimistic. Speaking to L’Équipe, Diaby expressed hope to complete “at least 90% of the preparation by the end of July,” which he considers a personal success amid his ongoing struggles.
Arsène Wenger’s side will now have to manage without the midfielder as they prepare for the new season, continuing the challenge of integrating Diaby back into the squad following his lengthy injury layoff.
