Arsenal in pole for Christian Kofane transfer

Arsenal are intensifying their push to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane this summer, with the 19-year-old increasingly emerging as a top target for Mikel Arteta’s attack.

The Gunners have been tracking the young forward closely, and his agent Eric Depolo has now confirmed that the North London club’s interest is both serious and advanced.

“Yes, Arsenal’s interest is genuine. The manager (Mikel Arteta) likes him very much,” Depolo explained, adding that several factors could give Arsenal an edge over rival suitors. Kofane speaks Spanish, like Arteta, and shares Cameroonian roots with William Saliba, something the agent believes helps put Arsenal “in pole position”.

Depolo also revealed there is already contact with the club. “Yes, there is contact between me and Arsenal. But their focus right now is to win the league – from there everything will start moving,” he said.

Leverkusen value Kofane at around €100m, with Depolo insisting “he is a €100 million player” and predicting that Arsenal would be securing a top striker for the next decade if a deal is struck. Kofane has made 39 appearances this season, scoring seven goals and supplying five assists in all competitions.
