In a tragic incident that has shocked the community of Kalungu District in Central Uganda, a security guard shot and killed an Arsenal fan following a football match as per Daily Monitor.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night at Afric Restaurant in the Uganda Cares building in Lukaya Town Council.

The victim, identified as 30-year-old John Ssenyonga, was celebrating Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United when the altercation took place

According to eyewitnesses, the trouble began around 12:30 am. when Arsenal fans started jubilating after their team scored the second goal.

The restaurant managers responded by switching off the electricity, which only intensified the fans’ celebrations.

The security guard, Richard Okecho, who is attached to Garda World Security Company, ordered the rowdy fans to quiet down.

When they did not comply, he opened fire, killing Ssenyonga and injuring another fan identified only as Lawrence.

The Southern Regional Police Spokesman, Mr. Twaha Kasirye confirmed the incident and stated that Okecho fled the scene but left behind the firearm used in the shooting.

The police have launched an investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward

The community is mourning the loss of Ssenyonga, a carpenter from Juma Cell in Kalungu District, and calling for justice and accountability.

The police have emphasized the importance of controlling emotions during such events to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
