Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed his desire for Thomas Partey to remain at the club.
The Ghanaian midfielder’s contract is set to expire this summer. Partey joined Arsenal in 2020 from Atletico Madrid on a five-year deal.
Ahead of the summer transfer window, the midfielder has been linked with moves to Barcelona, Juventus, and clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
Speaking before Arsenal’s final match of the season, Arteta praised Partey’s performances, saying, “In regards to Thomas [Partey], consistency-wise, it’s been his best season.
“I think the way he’s played, performed, his availability has been exceptional, and he’s a really important player for us. Yeah (I want him to stay),” he added.
This season, Partey has featured in 51 games—the most he has played in a single campaign for Arsenal—after previously struggling with injuries. He has also contributed four goals.
The 31-year-old will look to continue his strong form when Arsenal face Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium on Sunday.
