Abou Diaby, who suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his left knee during training in March 2013, was scheduled to make his return on April 1. However, Arsène Wenger announced on Tuesday evening, after Arsenal’s victory over West Ham (3-1) at the Emirates Stadium, that the midfielder would be able to return to full training in the coming days.
According to Wenger, Diaby “will resume full training on Thursday.” However, Wenger also noted the challenge of predicting Diaby’s return to competitive action, as he has been out of play for over a year. Wenger mentioned that Diaby looks good physically, but he will likely need to play one or two matches before being considered fully back.
Additionally, Mesut Özil, who was absent against West Ham, is expected to return to the squad for the upcoming match against Hull City on Sunday, as part of the 35th day of the Premier League. Wenger stated, “He should be available this weekend.”
