Arne Slot hails Mohamed Salah’s mentality after Galatasaray win
Liverpool boss Arne Slot singled out Mohamed Salah’s resilience after the forward turned a difficult night into another historic Champions League milestone in the 4-0 win over Galatasaray at Anfield.
Salah saw his first-half penalty saved, a moment that could have shifted the mood inside the stadium with Liverpool holding only a narrow lead at the time.
Instead, the Egyptian regrouped after the break, first sliding a clever pass through for Hugo Ekitike to double the advantage, then getting on the scoresheet himself with a familiar, curling finish. That goal made him the first African player to reach 50 goals in the competition, underlining his enduring status among Europe’s elite forwards.
“It says a lot about Mo’s mentality that he missed a penalty which was a difficult moment, because it was ridiculous only being 1-0 up at that time,” Slot said.
“But then he came back and gave a great assist to Hugo, and the goal he scored was trademark. He’s scored a lot like that. Credit to him and the whole team.”
Mohamed Salah has played nine games, scored three goals and assisted two in the Champions League this season.
