According to Walfoot, Arnaud Lusamba is no longer a Cercle Brugge player. The 22-year-old French midfielder of Congolese descent had been one of the few bright spots for the Green and Blacks and a regular starter under coach Laurent Guyot.
Cercle Brugge confirmed the departure on their official website:
“Following a conversation with the player, Cercle Brugge has decided to terminate its cooperation with the player immediately and definitively, in accordance with legal and contractual provisions.”
Lusamba is expected to return to OGC Nice, who had loaned him to Cercle last summer with an option to buy. After limited opportunities at Nice—making just 10 Ligue 1 appearances over two seasons—he moved to Belgium to gain more playing time.
The 22-year-old midfielder had joined Cercle Brugge, owned by AS Monaco, in 2018, reuniting with Laurent Guyot, who had previously coached him with the French youth national teams and even made him captain of the U18s. During his loan, Lusamba featured in 16 matches across all competitions, including a memorable 3-1 Europa League win over Zulte-Waregem in November 2017.
