Ivorian defensive midfielder Armand Bazie has completed a move to Gokulam FC, joining the Indian club on a free transfer after a spell without a team. The 34-year-old arrives as a free agent from his “Without Club” status, strengthening Gokulam’s options in the holding midfield role ahead of their next Indian Football League campaign.

The transfer, registered on 2026-03-30, involves no transfer fee, with Bazie out of contract following his most recent stint at Abu Muslim FC in Afghanistan. Contract length and financial details have not been disclosed, and his current market value is officially listed as not available, underlining that this is a low-risk, potentially high-reward move for the Kerala-based side.

Bazie is no stranger to Indian football. The left-footed midfielder has previously represented a string of clubs in the country, including East Bengal, Rainbow AC, Minerva Academy FC, Mohammedan SC (Kolkata), Real Kashmir FC and Churchill Brothers FC. His return to India comes after an extended spell abroad, featuring in the top divisions of Libya with Abu Salim SC and Iraq with Zakho SC, Naft Al-Wassat SC, Al-Qasim SC and Golan SC, before his most recent tenure in Afghanistan.

Born in Adjame, Côte d’Ivoire, and listed at 1.85 m, Bazie is a classic screening midfielder, primarily deployed in defensive midfield. Historically, his peak recorded market value reached €200,000 during his time with Real Kashmir FC and Churchill Brothers FC between 2019 and 2021, according to transfer data, before later valuations with Abu Salim SC fell to zero as his contract situation evolved.

His most recent moves reflect a journeyman’s path: from Abu Salim SC to Zakho SC in early 2023, a sequence of internal switches in Iraq, then to Afghan side Abu Muslim FC in late 2024, and finally into free agency in mid-2025. From there he remained unattached until Gokulam stepped in to secure his signature.

Gokulam’s decision to recruit a player with deep experience in Indian conditions and substantial exposure across Asia aligns with the club’s need for stability at the base of midfield. While he is now in the veteran stage of his career, his background in physically demanding leagues in Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan suggests he can still offer positional discipline and tactical maturity in the engine room.

Although contract expiry details have not been made public, there is a clear possibility that Bazie’s future status could again revert to free agent once this deal concludes, given his age and recent pattern of short-term engagements. For now, however, he is officially registered with Gokulam FC and is eligible to feature in the Indian Football League, once again plying his trade abroad rather than in his homeland of Côte d’Ivoire.

Bazie’s confirmed arrival marks another chapter in a career that has spanned multiple clubs and countries, and it sets up the prospect of the Ivorian anchoring Gokulam’s midfield as they look to compete in India’s national league structure in the coming seasons.
