Argentine Football Association offers Lionel Scaloni contract extension through 2030 World Cup

The Argentine Football Association has offered Lionel Scaloni a contract extension that would keep him as manager until the end of the 2030 World Cup.

Argentine outlet okdobleamarilla reported that the association wants to retain Scaloni for as long as possible and has formally presented him with the proposed renewal.

The governing body is now waiting for the manager to decide whether he will accept the offer.

Scaloni led Argentina to the 2022 World Cup title in Qatar and has also guided the team to two Copa America triumphs. Under his management, Argentina also reached the 2026 World Cup final, where they were beaten by Spain.

Argentina are scheduled to play four matches during the current international break, with one fixture against Bolivia and three friendly internationals involving Burkina Faso and Benin.

Their match against Bolivia will take place on Wednesday, 30 September, at the Mario Kempes Stadium.

The other two matches will be played at the River Plate Stadium. Argentina will face Burkina Faso on Saturday, 3 October, before meeting Benin on Tuesday, 6 October.
