Antonio Rudiger hit with six-match suspension over Copa del Rey incident

Antonio Rudiger has been handed a six-game suspension following an incident during Real Madrid’s 3-2 Copa del Rey final defeat to Barcelona.

The German defender, who had already been substituted, threw an ice cube at referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea during extra time. Rüdiger later issued a public apology, acknowledging his misconduct. ​

This suspension adds to a series of disciplinary issues for Rudiger, who was previously fined €40,000 for a throat-cutting gesture during celebrations after Real Madrid’s win over Atletico Madrid. ​
