Antonio Hossi: Angola defender at Petro Luanda linked with Arouca move in Portugal
Angolan right-back Antonio Hossi is being linked with a move from Petro Luanda to Portuguese top-flight side Arouca as the Liga Portugal club assess options at full-back ahead of the new campaign.
The 25-year-old defender, who plays on the right side of defence and is valued at around €150,000, has emerged on Arouca’s radar after establishing himself as a regular for Petro Luanda in continental competition. Hossi has featured in 19 CAF Champions League matches for the Luanda club, accumulating more than 1,500 minutes in the tournament and gaining experience against some of Africa’s leading sides.
Arouca’s interest comes two years after Hossi joined Petro Luanda from domestic rivals 1o de Agosto in July 2024. The move across the Angolan capital marked a step up following his progression from 1o de Agosto’s youth ranks and a loan spell at Aca. Lobito earlier in his career.
Hossi, who stands at 1.79m and is a right-footed specialist in the right-back role, wears the number 27 shirt for Petro Luanda and has also featured in the CAF Confederation Cup. His current deal at Petro was agreed when he moved in 2024, and there is no indication yet that the Angolan club are under pressure to sell.
For now, the defender remains under contract at Petro Luanda, with Arouca monitoring his situation as they weigh up a possible bid.
