Liverpool legend, Michael Owen beleives Antoine Semenyo has the potential to replace Mohamed Salah, should the Egyptian depart Anfield.
His remarks follow after the Ghana international scored in A.F.C. Bournemouth’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea.
Owen believes Semenyo’s standout performances this season make him a strong candidate for Liverpool’s attack if the Egyptian attacker leaves the club.
“Semenyo is a brilliant player,” he said on Premier League Productions.
“He scores goals and we don’t know if Mohamed Salah will leave or stay but if he leaves, Semenyo should be his replacement at Liverpool,” he added.
Salah’s contract expires at the end of the season, leaving him free to negotiate with other clubs in January as Liverpool are yet to table a new deal.
Semenyo has already scored seven goals this season and will hope to continue his fine goalscoring form when Bournemouth travel to play Newcastle United at the St. James Park this weekend.
