Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has revealed that he takes inspiration from Ivorian great Didier Drogba and France great Thierry Henry.
Speaking in an interview with Showmax, the AFC Bournemouth forward revealed that studying clips of the former Premier League greats helped him grow as a player, especially during tough moments in his career, such as his injury spell at Bristol City.
“I think it goes back to my mentality really. It’s just kind of like, ‘What can I do if I’m not playing football?’ And it’s like, ‘Just keep going. What can I do?’” Semenyo said.
He credited one of Bristol City’s assistant coaches with encouraging him to watch videos of players who shared his style. Among them was Swiss international Breel Embolo, in addition to Drogba and Henry.
“He suggested Breel Embolo from Monaco. He feels like my playing style is very similar. And so I watched him, Henry, and Drogba for inspiration really. Just movement, working on heading, footwork—just little things. I used my time just watching them, really,” Semenyo explained.
Antoine Semenyom, 25, is currently making his mark in the English Premier League with Bournemouth. This summer, the Black Stars forward is reportedly attracting interest from several top European clubs.
