Antoine Semenyo is a dangerous player – Liverpool legend Steve McManaman
Liverpool great Steve McManaman has praised Antoine Semenyo following the Ghanaian forward’s standout performance in AFC Bournemouth’s Premier League opener against the Reds.
Bournemouth traveled to Anfield on Friday night, where Liverpool raced into a 2-0 lead before the break through Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo.
After the interval, Semenyo brought the Cherries back into the contest with two quick goals in the 64th and 76th minutes. However, Liverpool regained control as Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah struck late on to seal victory for Jürgen Klopp’s side.
Reflecting on the match, McManaman hailed Semenyo’s qualities and admitted Liverpool may have missed an opportunity to secure his services.
“Antoine Semenyo ran 50 yards to score that goal after he signed a long-term contract,” he said on Premier League Production.
“He is strong and built for the Premier League, and anytime he has the ball, he looks dangerous going forward and for me, he should be playing for clubs like Liverpool.
“Throughout this summer, he was linked to Liverpool until Mohamed Salah extended his contract,” he added.
Semenyo will be looking to continue his fine form when Bournemouth host Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, August 23.
