Manchester City have officially registered January signings Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi in their Champions League squad for the knockout stages, giving Pep Guardiola fresh options in attack and defense for the business end of the tournament.
City had initially submitted a list of 23 players out of a possible 25, which allowed them to add both newcomers without needing to remove anyone, although Stefan Ortega and Oscar Bobb left the club during the winter window.
UEFA regulations prevented Semenyo and Guehi from being included during the league phase, but those restrictions no longer apply for the knockouts, clearing the way for their participation. Their inclusion underlines City’s intention to stay competitive on all fronts as they chase another deep European run.
The holders have already secured direct qualification to the Round of 16, where they will be drawn against one of Inter, Bodo/Glimt, Real Madrid, or Benfica, setting up the possibility of some heavyweight ties early in the knockouts.
With two new faces now on board, City’s updated squad list looks more balanced as they prepare for the decisive months of the season in Europe.
