Antoine Sekongo: Samsunspor eye move for Mali-Ivory Coast midfielder from USL Dunkerque

Mali-Ivory Coast central midfielder Antoine Sekongo of USL Dunkerque has been linked with a summer move to Turkish Süper Lig side Samsunspor.

The 22-year-old, who is valued at €4.00m on Transfermarkt, is emerging as a target for Samsunspor as they look to reinforce their midfield options ahead of the new campaign. The reported probability of the deal remains unclear, with the move currently listed as “?” and no agreement yet in place between the clubs.

Sekongo, born on 13 June 2004 in Attécoubé, holds dual nationality with Mali and Côte d’Ivoire and stands at 1.78m. A right-footed central midfielder, he wears the number 8 shirt for Dunkerque and is viewed as one of the more promising young midfielders in France’s Ligue 2.

Although his exact contract length at Dunkerque has not been disclosed, publicly available data lists no expiry date, which has fuelled speculation that the French club may face a decision over whether to cash in on the player now or risk him running down his deal and potentially becoming a free agent further down the line.

Samsunspor’s interest comes on the back of Sekongo’s growing influence at Dunkerque, where he has been used primarily in his natural central midfield role. Recent league data places him firmly in the shop window, with his market value of €4.00m underlining that any move would likely be a permanent transfer rather than a low-cost gamble.

If a deal can be struck, a switch from Ligue 2 to the Süper Lig would mark a significant step up in profile for Sekongo and could prove a defining move in shaping both his reputation in European football and his long-term career trajectory.
