Antoine Baroan has been linked with a move from FC Rapid 1923 to fellow Romanian SuperLiga side FC Botoșani, according to the latest transfer listings.
The 25-year-old centre-forward, currently on the books at Rapid, is the subject of fresh speculation within Romania’s top flight, with Botoșani reportedly exploring the possibility of adding the left-footed attacker to their squad. The reported probability of the transfer is listed only as “?”, underlining that talks, if any, remain at an early and uncertain stage.
Baroan is presently valued at €600k, a figure that could make him a relatively affordable option for Botoșani should Rapid be open to negotiation or if his contractual situation allows for a low-cost exit. With no public details on the length of his deal in Bucharest, the data also leaves open the prospect that he could become a free agent in the near future, which would further fuel interest.
The French-born striker, who holds both France and Côte d’Ivoire nationality, joined Rapid from Swiss side FC Winterthur after a spell that included a loan at Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad. Earlier in his career he rose through the ranks at Chamois Niortais in France, progressing from their U19s and B team into the first team before moving to Botev Plovdiv in Bulgaria and then on to Switzerland.
Baroan’s market value has fluctuated in recent seasons, peaking at around €1.6m during his time with Botev Plovdiv before settling at its current €600k mark following subsequent moves across Europe. Primarily used as a central striker, his height of 1.88m and left-footed profile add a different dimension to attacking lines, factors that may appeal to Botoșani as they reshape their squad.
Should the move materialise, it would mark another step in Baroan’s increasingly nomadic career and could offer him a platform in the SuperLiga to rebuild his value and sharpen his reputation in a league he already knows.
