Anthony Mandrea proud to be back with Algeria for AFCON 2025
Anthony Mandrea expressed his delight at returning to the Algerian national team camp ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, stressing how well preparations are going.
“We’re preparing properly. We haven’t had a break because we all arrived from our clubs in good shape,” he explained, highlighting the physical continuity across the squad after a demanding first half of the season, something he considers crucial for such a tough tournament.
Mandrea underlined that the current focus is on fine‑tuning details before Algeria’s opening match against Sudan on December 24 in Rabat. “Now, we are preparing tactically and technically,” he said, reflecting coach Vladimir Petkovic’s plan to sharpen both organization and style of play in these final sessions.
On a personal level, the goalkeeper did not hide his emotion after being recalled, benefiting from Alexis Guendouz’s withdrawal. “My return to the national team? I am very happy and very proud to be here and to be able to help the national team in any way I can,” he stated. With Algeria approaching AFCON 2025 cautiously but with ambition, Mandrea’s goal is simple: contribute to a deep run and help the team go as far as possible.
