Anthony Arthur: Ghana midfielder joins Kedah FA on free transfer

Ghanaian midfielder Anthony Arthur has joined Kedah FA from Kelantan City on a free transfer, completing a move within Malaysia’s A1 Semi-Pro League.

The 23-year-old central midfielder switches clubs after spending the 2025-26 campaign with Kelantan City. Arthur’s move was completed on 3 August 2026, giving Kedah a left-footed option in the middle of the pitch for the new season.

Arthur made 15 appearances in the A1 Semi-Pro League during the latest campaign, scoring twice and playing 1,212 minutes. His goals came at an average of one every 606 minutes, while his record places him among the players moving between clubs within the Malaysian competition during the current transfer period.

Born in Takoradi, Arthur represents Ghana and has spent the recent part of his career in Malaysia. Before joining Kelantan City, he moved to Kelantan WTS FC on 12 December 2025. That earlier switch preceded his spell with Kelantan City and was part of his progression through the Malaysian football system.

At Kedah, Arthur will continue in the same league but will do so with a different club following the conclusion of his time at Kelantan City. His preferred position is central midfield, and his left-footed profile gives the side another option in that area.

The transfer also marks a change of club without a reported fee, with Arthur leaving Kelantan City and joining Kedah as a free agent. The move was recorded at the start of the 2026-27 season, placing him among Kedah’s arrivals for the new campaign.

Arthur’s most recent competitive record consists of two goals from 15 league appearances, with 1,212 minutes on the pitch. His arrival provides Kedah with a midfielder who already has experience of the A1 Semi-Pro League and has played regularly in the competition.
